CMPD: Two Suspects Charged In 2018 South Charlotte Murder

After close to three years, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged two suspects for murder in a south Charlotte homicide case.
During an investigation by homicide detectives, 21-year-old Juan Escalante and 20-year-old Mario Ramirez-Duarte were identified as the suspects for the 2018 murder of Ramirez-Duarte. Warrants were issued for their arrest.
Escalante, who is already in custody for murder on an unrelated case, will be served with the additional murder warrant by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he will remain in custody, according to police. Ramirez-Duarte was arrested Sunday without incident.
After Ramirez-Duarte was interviewed by detectives, he was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he was served his murder warrant, police said.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was found shot to death in South Charlotte late Monday morning.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called around 11:30 a.m. to the 9100 block of Fisher’s Pond Drive where they located 22-year-old Tyron Jodie Ervin suffering with a gunshot wound.
Medic pronounced Ervin dead on scene. His family has been notified of his death.
