Hospitalized South Charlotte Shooting Victim Dies Sparking Homicide Investigation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after a hospitalized south Charlotte shooting victim died due to their injuries Wednesday.

Officers responded to Fredrick Place, off of Park Road, on July 29 around 7:15 p.m. after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medic transported the victim, identified as 54-year-old Robert Cline, to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The hospital staff pronounced the victim dead due to his injuries from the shooting Wednesday.

Detectives are now investigating the incident as a homicide. Officials have spoken with all parties involved and are not currently looking for any additional suspects.
