Discussion:
It’s a soupy start this morning with clear skies and calm winds leading to patchy dense fog. Areas south of Charlotte are seeing the worst of it with visibility down to less than 1/4 of a mile. Fog will lift by mid-morning. A hot and humid week will be setting up with highs today reaching the low to mid-90s. Heat indices will be near the triple digits Tuesday. Moisture will be increasing across the area as a tropical wave moves into the Caribbean and closes in on Florida mid-week. This will lead to an increase in afternoon showers and storm chances beginning Wednesday. Temps will remain hot and above average through the end of the week. This ridge of high pressure will be telling. If it breaks down, we will likely see more numerous storms and even another round of heavy rain by this weekend – especiallyΒ keeping an eye on the mountainsΒ and foothills. If it holds, we’ll be able to dodge the brunt of this tropical moisture. It will be something to watch over the next few days.
