CMPD Officers De-Escalate Situation In North Charlotte Involving A Suicidal Man With A Gun

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD officers were able to de-escalate a situation on Thursday involving a suicidal man with a gun in north Charlotte.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to Perimeter Station Drive in reference to a man who was armed with a firearm and threatening to commit suicide.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in possession of a gun refusing to comply with their requests.

Officers then evacuated the surrounding area and attempted to peacefully ask the man to put the gun down.

After several hours, police say the man surrendered to officers and was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated and treated.

No one was injured and no officers fired their weapons during this incident.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
