Sweltering Weekend, Plus Watching the Tropics
AM Headlines:
- Patchy AM Fog
- Well Above Average Temps this weekend
- The mid to upper 90s, but feeling like 100
- Isolated stormΒ chances
- Rain and Storms from Ida mid-week
Discussion:
Our streak of 90-degree heat will continue this weekend. The mid to upper 90s in the forecast with heat indices in the triple digits by Sunday. Sunny with just an isolated storm chance. High pressure is keeping things hot here, but it’s also helping to steer Ida into the Gulf of Mexico. Ida is currently a tropical storm, but it is forecast to become a major hurricane before landfall late Sunday into early Monday along the LA/MS coast. A Hurricane watch has already been issued for the SE LA coast to MS and a tropical storm watch is in place from MS to the FL Panhandle. This storm could still shift further east and that will impact what we could see here. Expecting as of now rain and storms from Ida by Wednesday here in the Carolinas. It will be something to watch this weekend.
