Pop-Up Bar Rumaway Cove Coming to Refuge on Central Ave

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) — ETA Group is pleased to announce it will open Rumaway Cove at Refuge on Central, a Wintergreen Hospitality hotel located at 1101 Central Ave. Rumaway Cove is a popup bar inspired by The Royal Tot, serving tropical-inspired cocktails and bites in an intimate setting. 

“While The Royal Tot is under construction, we are stoked to be able to introduce the tropical food and drinks we’ve been working on through the Rumaway Cove space,” says Scott Gadd, chief financial officer of ETA Group. 

“Refuge is a super unique hotel, and we’re thrilled to be able to set up Rumaway Cove as an amenity for both guests of the hotel and our local friends,” says Ashleigh Gadd, chief executive officer of ETA. 

ETA plans to open Rumaway Cove in early September. It will remain open at least two months, with the potential to stay longer. Guests will enjoy Rumaway Cove by booking a reservation. Members of The Royal Tot’s Admiral Vernon’s Rum Club will receive priority for bookings. 

ETA beverage director Larry Suggs’ cocktail menu will include classic tropical cocktails like the Painkiller, Mai Tai and Queen’s Park Swizzle, plus his own creations, including The Happiest Hour with coconut-infused rum, passion fruit, hibiscus tea, cinnamon, citrus, and sparkling wine, and Trinidaddy Daiquiri with aged rum, black spiced rum, banana-tamarind cordial, fresh lime juice, egg white, and Angostura bitters. Paper Plane Deli and Market will produce Rumaway Cove’s food, from bar bites like Togarashi Bar Nuts and Smoked Fish Dip to larger items such as Spam Grilled Cheese and Spam and Egg Sliders. On Friday and Saturday night, a specialty menu including caviar and ceviche tastings will be available. 

Upon opening, Rumaway Cove’s hours will be Wednesday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday, 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Rumaway Cove will begin taking reservations prior to opening on The Royal Tot’s website, theroyaltot.com.
