Largely Lovely Labor Day, Tracking Isolated Showers
Despite the passage of a cold front to close out the holiday weekend, temperatures will be on the rise through midweek.
We’re smack in the middle of a beautiful holiday weekend, and the good times should keep on rolling into our Labor Day. That being said, we’re watching out for a cold front approaching from the northwest to close out our extended break. While it certainly won’t be a washout by any means, isolated showers and storms may crop up overnight Sunday into early Monday afternoon. The biggest rain chances lie in the mountains and Foothills, but a stray storm may find its way into the Piedmont later on Labor Day. Outside of the very isolated rain, expect mostly sunny skies and warm highs reaching into the upper 80s in the Metro and upper 70s in higher elevations.
Despite the passage of the cold front on Monday, temperatures should continue to rise through midweek. We’ll be touch-and-go with the 90° mark Tuesday and Wednesday in Charlotte before a second cold front arrives late Wednesday. Rain chances also look minimal with this system, but a few isolated showers and storms could get going in the afternoon. Slightly cooler temperatures and much more comfortable humidity levels build back in to close out the shortened workweek before more heat returns by next weekend.
