GASTONIA, N.C. — The Gastonia Police Department is investigating a shooting after a 16-year-old was hospitalized Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to a Keith Drive home, off of Modena Street, around 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old boy inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries by Medic, police said.
Investigators say they do not believe that the shooting was random.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
