The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced Thursday that no charges would be filed in the south Charlotte fatal shooting of a 29-year-old.
“Following the conclusion of this investigation, the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office has consulted with CMPD’s Homicide Unit and concurs with the detectives’ decision not to charge anyone in this case,” police said in a news release.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A south Charlotte homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot to death Sunday evening, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Officers responded to Deep Rock Circle, near Kings Creek Circle, around 7:30 p.m. after reports that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified as 29-year-old Eric Howell, was taken to the hospital by Medic to Atrium Main and later pronounced dead.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
