Nicki Minaj Turns Down Met Gala Invitation Because Of Her Vaccination Status
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 2021 Met Gala is underway. It’s a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Monday’s event is the first Met Gala since 2019. This year’s theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” (read: a celebration of American fashion). Guests ranged from singer Billie Eilish to talk show host James Corden to actor Dan Levy.
Nicki Minaj was invited to Monday’s event, but she didn’t go. She revealed that she did not attend because guests are required to show proof of vaccination against COVID. She tweeted, “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now.” She added, “In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”
Our question of the night: should all big events require proof of vaccination?
