One-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Lancaster Parking Lot

LANCASTER, S.C. — A 1-year-old child has died after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening at a Lancaster apartment complex parking lot, according to police.

Police responded to Frank L. Roddey Homes, located on E. Arch Street, around 7 p.m. after reports of a child being hit by a vehicle. Upon arrival, police found Lancaster County EMS was rendering aid to the child.

According to witnesses, the child walked in front of a vehicle as the driver was attempting to leave the parking lot. EMS transported the child to MUSC Health-Lancaster. The child was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

This is still an active investigation by the Lancaster Police Department and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
