CMPD: Fatal West Charlotte Shooting Suspect Dies At Hospital

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the identified suspect in the fatal shooting case of a 18-year-old, who was found seriously injured near a west Charlotte Walmart, died in the hospital.

Police say 22-year-old Darvon Fletcher was the second person injured in the shooting. Through an investigation, officers determined that Fletcher was the suspect in the homicide case of Johnny Scott and warrants were issued for his arrest.

Warrants for murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon were issued for his arrest, according to a news release. The warrants were to be served following his release from the hospital; however, Fletcher died due to his injuries prior to his release.

CMPD’s homicide detectives have concluded their investigation and are not searching for any other suspects.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a west Charlotte shooting after an 18-year-old found near a Walmart on Wilkinson Boulevard died Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to Wilkinson Boulevard, near a Walmart parking lot, around 3 p.m. after receiving an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, police say they found Johnny Scott suffering from a gunshot wound.

Scott was transported by Medic to Atrium Main where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries, police said.

After obtaining more information police determined that Scott was most likely shot on West Boulevard, near Remount Road. Police found another shooting victim at that location with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
