Sunny Skies, Temps Rise
Despite the increase in temperatures, humidity levels should remain bearable throughout the week.
We’ve made it to the final week of September, and the beautiful weather we’ve seen for the past few days will continue into October. That said, ample sunshine and winds out of the south and west will elevate temperatures steadily into midweek. In fact, a few spots may be touch-and-go with 90° come Wednesday. While highs will be on the rise, the good news is that humidity levels will stay relatively low. Another mainly dry cold front will sag southward for the second half of the week, which should return temperatures to near-normal values in the 60s and 70s by the weekend.
Hurricane Sam is currently a Category 4 with winds approaching 145 mph. Sam remains a few hundred miles west of the Caribbean and should continue to slowly trudge northwestward over the next couple of days. The system may flirt with Category 5 strength before weakening as it moves over less favorable conditions by midweek. Model trends continue to take Sam out to sea, but we’ll need to watch for strong rip currents on the Carolina coastline through next weekend.
