CHARLOTTE — An American Airlines flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport experienced mechanical trouble Sunday afternoon.
According to American Airlines, Flight 771 from Charlotte to Portland, Maine encountered a “possible mechanical issue” shortly after departure.
American Airlines issued this statement:
“The aircraft returned to CLT where it landed safely and taxied to the gate on its own power.Β The flight is scheduled to de-part for PWM on a different aircraft.Β We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
There were 128 passengers on board, including 5 crew members.Β No injuries were reported.Β The aircraft was an Airbus A319.Β The original aircraft has been take out of service for evaluation by the maintenance team.
