Police: 17-Year-Old Boy Dies After Shooting Near Kannapolis Elementary School


KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Police say a 17-old-year boy shot inside his car outside an elementary school in Kannapolis on Thursday has since died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

Logan Broome of Kannapolis was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries immediately following the shooting that occurred around 2:42 p.m. on C Street.

WCCB reports the Broome’s car ended up on a curb in front of G.W. Carver Elementary School with multiple shell casing markers in the street.

Authorities note that the shooting did not occur on school property, and no students were on campus at the time of the shooting, as the school was closed for Veterans Day.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
