Discussion:
Dry, cold air will sink into the region today. It will be a breezy morning, especially for the mountains with winds out of the northwest. Clouds will clear by mid-morning. Highs will struggle to reach the upper 40s for the Piedmont with temps not getting out of the 30s lows for the Mountains. Freezing temps tonight with lows falling to the mid-20s. Clear and colder Tuesday with highs only reaching the low 40s as high pressure keeps a good grasp over the area. This will drive out any clouds, but keep temps chilly – especially during the overnight hours. A cold front will move into the region late Thursday. Not a lot of moisture with this front, but could bring a few showers to the mountains. Temps will climb into the mid-50s late week with highs near 50 for the weekend. A stronger disturbance will bring a better chance at moisture for the region. It’s too soon to talk about in-depth, but some models are hinting at a dusting of snow even for Charlotte late Saturday into Sunday. We’ll keep our eyes on this, but not worth getting too excited about just yet.
