Tega Cay Teacher Shot While Driving DoorDash In Charlotte

TEGA CAY, S.C. — The community is coming together to help a Tega Cay teacher who was shot while driving DoorDash in Charlotte.

The elementary school teacher, named Brett Maksymik, was shot on East Morehead Street in December as he moon lighted driving for DoorDash.

As of Tuesday morning, a GoFundMe has raised more than $28,000 to help Maksymik. The GoFundMe account says he has undergone two surgeries.

“While working his evening and weekend part-time DoorDash job, he was shot from behind during an attempted robbery and the bullet was lodged in his abdomen,” according to the GoFundMe account. “He successfully made it through surgery on 12/19 and has begun the healing/recovery process.”

The account states that Maksymik is expected to make a full recovery and the funds collected will help him relieve the extra costs of hospital/medical bills, medication, physical therapy, and other unforeseen expenses.
