Anti-Work Movement Explodes: 4 Day Work Weeks, 6 Hour Work Days & Quitting Unfulfilling Jobs
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An online forum where members are encouraging each other to resign from their jobs is booming, as The Great Resignation pushes on. Over the last few months, millions of Americans have left their jobs in droves, after the COVID crises led them to re-evaluate their careers.
The Reddit forum “anti-work” encourages followers to leave traditional jobs and try self-employment, with the goal of prioritizing personal time. Members also use the platform to complain about bad bosses and ask for advice.
The thread exploded from 180,000 followers in October 2020, to more than 1.6 million this month.
As more people contend with their unhappiness in their current jobs, there’s growing political pressure to re-imagine the workforce. For example, Finland’s Prime Minister has pushed for the idea of a six-hour work day and a four-day work week. She says people deserve to spend more time with families, loved one, hobbies and culture. The concept has gained a lot of attention throughout Europe, but has not yet been widely implemented.
Our question of the night: can the American workforce permanently change?
