CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Governor Cooper says over 90,000 North Carolina homes and businesses are without power, as he shares an update on the wintry mix falling statewide Saturday afternoon.
Cooper and Emergency Management officials updated residents on road conditions, as a number of wrecks occurred Saturday morning due to the winter storm.
Cooper says as much as 8-12 inches of snow have fallen in certain counties, significant icing is causing problems in the central part of the state, and conditions are dangerous in many areas.
Cooper says the best way to avoid a car accident on Sunday is to stay put if possible.
