CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has responded to 41 traffic crashes since 12 a.m. Sunday, when a winter storm overtook the region.
Authorities say 16 of these crashes resulted in personal injury and 25 in property damage only.
Weather officials say as the winter storm leaves the Carolinas, icy roads will become the main traffic concern, as it may take a day or two for temperatures to get high enough to melt the ice.
The City of Charlotte is urging residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
