Frigid Temperatures Will Lead To Widespread Refreezing
Weather Headlines:
– Overnight lows drop into the teens which means everything will re-freeze tonight.
– Rain moves in mid-week.
– Late week/weekend wintry precipitation again?
A frigid night is on tap with overnight lows in the teens. Anything still wet from the weekend winter storm will refreeze. This will make for another morning of rough travel Tuesday. High temperatures on Tuesday will top out in the mid 40s under sunny skies. This will allow more melting to take place, but not completely. I expect refreezing to occur again Wednesday morning with low temperatures below freezing. Wednesday will be our warmest day with high temperatures topping out near 50 degrees with increasing clouds through the day. A cold front will swing through on Thursday bringing showers to the area Wednesday evening into Thursday.
There is a lot of talk in regards to this upcoming weekend weather. When it comes to winter forecasting, here is the timeline:
7-10 days out: Pattern Recognition. Is a storm possible?
4-6 days out: Confidence. Is it likely or unlikely?
2-3 days out: Confidence in track and timing
1-2 days out: Accumulation forecast.
* As of Monday evening there is great uncertainty. Both long range models have some type of wintry precipitation falling, but confidence is low in regards to the timeframe and precipitation type. For now we watch trends and wait.
