Discussion:
A High Wind Warning is in effect for the mountains until 10pm. Gusts 50 to 60 mph will be possible. This could create whiteout conditions with blowing snow, downed trees, and power outages for the mountains. Another 1-2″ of snow for the high country will be possible today, with drier air wrapping in tonight. Temps will reach the mid to upper 30s this afternoon, it won’t be feeling like it with the wind chills, but it will be enough to melt some of the snow and ice that fell yesterday. Overnight temps will drop into the teens and anything that did melt will likely refreeze. This will cause more travel issues with widespread black ice likely Tuesday morning. Temps will warm into the low 50s by Wednesday, but just as we dry out and get rid of some of the ice, we will need to watch the potential for another system that could bring another round of snow, sleet and freezing rain Friday into early Saturday. Not completely sold on this system right now, but it is definitely worth mentioning and will need to be monitored.
