Cold Front Will Move Through Thursday
Scattered showers through the day Thursday with a PM wintry mix possible
Weather Headlines:
– A mild night with lows near 40 degrees.
– Cold front arrives Thursday bringing numerous rain showers with some mix in the evening.
– Much colder air behind this front with highs Friday struggling to reach 30 degrees.
Winter Storm Watch issued for parts of the area south of I-85.
Overnight low temperatures bottom out in the low 40s with increasing clouds and a southwest wind ahead of Thursdays cold front. This cold front will bring scattered to numerous showers through the day Thursday with a brief mix possible in the evening. This front will stall to our south and waves of low pressure will ride along that front. This will push the moisture back to the area where cold air is already in place – this allowing for wintry precipitation to push back into the area. The freezing rain threat will be to our east across the Pee Dee of South Carolinas and eastern North Carolina. Extremely cold air builds in behind Thursdays front with lows in the 20s with some neighborhoods in the teens beginning Friday night.
