It’s National Popcorn Day

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Today is National Popcorn Day. Popcorn was first used by the Aztecs in the 16th century. They used it honor their god of maize and fertility by including it as part of a head dress.

People began eating popcorn in the mid 1800s and 1900s. Each year, Americans consume 13 billion quarts of popcorn every year.
