Queen’s Feast: Calle Sol

CHARLOTTE N.C.-  Calle Sol’s Remy Thurston joins the Rising crew to prepare their classic shrimp ceviche, one of their dishes available for Queen’s feast!

Calle Sol has a casual atmosphere with lively music and even livelier food. The menu focuses on cuisine from Cuba to Peru but has touches from all over Latin America, based on neighborhood dining spots in Tampa and Miami. Chef Paul Cruz leads the team making delicious ceviches, pressed sandwiches, and so much more.

  • Stiltsville Special – rum punch with pineapple and coconut honoring the Prohibition rum village on stilts in Biscayne Bay (can be substituted for one of our Latin sodas)
  • Starter (choice of one)
  • Classic Shrimp Ceviche – fresh lime juice leche de tigre marinade with sliced onions, cilantro, chili peppers, salt and pepper, served with sweet potato, corn and crispy canchas
  • Ham Croquetas – ham and bechamel fritter, fried until golden brown and gooey on the inside
  • Solterito Salad – Peruvian salad with Romaine, fresh roasted corn, edamame, chickpeas, grape tomato, queso fresco, avocado, red pepper, cilantro, choice of dressing
  • Mariquitas Nachos – fried green plantain chips topped with lechon or picadillo, pickled onions, and cilantro aioli
  • Entree (choice of one)
  • Lechon Asado – roast pork marinated with our house mojo for 24 hours and roasted for 10 hours, served with rice, beans, sautéed onions, and sweet plantains
  • Ropa Vieja – braised shredded beef stew with sofrito, tomato, capers and green olives
  • Chicken Milanesa – Mojo chicken, breaded and fried to order and topped with tomato sauce, ham and melted cheese, served with rice, beans, and sweet plantains
  • Mojo Shrimp – Argentinian red shrimp sautéed with dry white wine, diced tomatoes, cilantro, mojo and butter, served over jasmine rice
  • Pasta Huancaína – Noodles, tossed in our house-made huancaína sauce and topped with stir-fried mushrooms (shiitake, crimini and oyster), tomato, red onions, ginger and scallions
  • Dessert (choice of one)
  • Key Lime Pie Bar – the classic Graham cracker crust and tart custardy interior
  • Chocoflan – rich chocolate cake with a caramel flan on top
