Watching Wintry Friday Night
Temperatures will be near 50° Friday afternoon before plummeting as rain and snow build in.
Who’s ready for round three? Wintry weather is back on the menu this Friday evening into Saturday morning as a pair of storm systems converge near the Carolinas. Expect a cold start to our Friday morning as temperatures bottom out in the 20s and 30s across the board. Clouds build in throughout our final day of the workweek as temperatures climb near 50° in the Piedmont and Foothills. A strong cold front pushes in from the northwest by the mid-afternoon, bringing snow to the High Country, but mainly rain everywhere else to start. Rain will quickly transition to snow as temperatures plunge back into the 20s and 30s overnight.
Snow will slowly taper off Saturday morning before clear skies take back over by the afternoon. Temperatures will struggle to get above freezing through the first half of the weekend before a steady warm-up arrives for the final week of January. More rain chances return for the latter half of the week ahead.
