Matthews Police Ask For Public’s Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Police are searching for a suspect accused of stealing over $51,000 worth of jewelry from a Kohl’s in Matthews on Wednesday.

Around 8:30 p.m. on January 26th, detectives say a man entered the Kohl’s on East Independence Boulevard, pulled a hammer out of his hoodie, smashed the glass out of a jewelry counter, and stole several items within it.

Officials say when he left the store, he was in possession of approximately $51,000 worth of jewelry.

Prior to the crime, detectives say the suspect had entered the store wearing different clothes and a blonde wig.

The suspect is described as a White man with a slim build and dark hair.

Police say he was last seen in a silver 2011 4-door BMW with a registration plate number of LVG-9701 (PA) traveling on Sam Newell Road.
