New Bus Shelter Built For Union County Public School Students
UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Union County Public School students have a new place to stay dry while waiting for the bus.
The Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club worked with the Monroe Housing Authority to create a new bus shelter for kids who live in the Willow Oaks Community.
The bus doesn’t go into the neighborhood so all the students who live there wait on the same corner.
They didn’t have a place to wait during bad weather until now.
“We have 125-150 children that live in this community. They stand on this corner during rain, sleet, snow, wind,” Dr. John Rozzano said. “They had no protection. So now they have a shelter that they can feel protected in.”
The Rotary Club says it hopes this is the first of many bus shelters in the Monroe community.
