Deputies: California Man Charged For Trafficking Over $290,000 Worth Of Marijuana In Iredell County
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A California resident was arrested Wednesday after an Iredell County traffic stop led to the seizure of over 60 pounds of marijuana.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2020 Ford Expedition on Interstate 77 South at Tomlin Mill Road for a traffic violation. When deputies spoke to the driver, identified as Victor Morrison Jr. of Los Angeles, about the traffic violation signs of other criminal activity was detected.
Canine “Abby” was called to the scene to assist with the traffic stop which led to a positive alert to the odor and presence of illegal narcotics, according to a news release.
During a vehicle search by deputies over 66 pounds of high grade marijuana was found hidden in vacuumed sealed bags, in a large duffle bag, in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The marijuana seized has an estimated street value of $299,680, deputies say.
Morrison was arrested without incident and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with felony trafficking marijuana by transport, felony trafficking marijuana by possession, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony maintain a vehicle for the sale or use of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.
Morrison received a $500,000 secured bond on the charges by Magistrate M. Russell.
