Registration Open For 2022 Cabarrus County Senior Games
CONCORD, N.C. — Seniors across Cabarrus County are invited to show off their creativity and competitiveness by participating in the 2022 Senior Games this April.
Anyone 50-years-old and up by December 31st, 2022 can compete in the games, which are open to all skill levels.
Seniors will compete in various athletic events including pickleball, bowling, walking, cornhole, swimming, track and field events, tennis, cycling, football throw, softball, and basketball shooting.
And residents who enjoy performing or the visual arts will get the chance to showcase their creative talents by participating in the SilverArts competition.
Sanctioned by North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. and sponsored statewide by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult services, the Senior Games encourage older adults to learn a new skill, get more active, make friends, and most of all have fun.
“I was introduced to Senior Games and it’s probably been the most exciting period of my life,” said 81-year-old long time participate Toni Swick. “I feel like Senior Games and the Seniors that are involved are very quintessential people. They’re special. I market Senior Games all the time because I believe in them.”
The competition divides events into five-year age groups by gender, with the exception of mixed doubles and Silver Arts.
The top medalists will represent Cabarrus County in the North Carolina Senior Games State Finals.
“I just love it,” Swick said. “I love volunteering. I love the socialization. I love the competitiveness. It’s all about aging with dignity.”
Early bird registration is $18 before March 1st at 5 p.m. Final registration is $23 by March 14th at 12 p.m..
Officials say this includes participation in your chosen event(s), Cabarrus County Senior Games T-shirt, and a ticket to the closing ceremony picnic.
