CATS Extends Bus Route To Provide Service To Hope Street Food Pantry

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting Monday, February 7th, CATS will extend Route 53X to provide riders with direct access to the Hope Street Food Pantry.

Charlotte Area Transit System will provide service to Johnston Oehler Road each weekday evening via Route 53X MetroRAPID Northlake, according to a news release.

This route extension will allow for those in need to access the food pantry operating out of Hope Church every Thursday evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 4100 Johnson Oehler Road.

Officials say Route 53X will provide two trips between Bay X at the Charlotte Transportation Center and Hope Church according to the following weekday evening schedule:

In addition, officials say the following routes have been adjusted to improve on time performance:

  • Route 5 – Sprinter
  • Route 27 – Monroe Road
  • Route 7 – Beatties Ford Road
  • Route 28 – Fairview Road
  • Route 14 – Providence Road
  • Route 29 – UNCC/J.W. Clay
  • Route 15 – Randolph Road
  • Route 59 – North Meck Connector
  • Route 16 – S. Tryon Road
  • Route 74X – Union County Express
  • Route 19 – Park Road
  • Route 235 – Goodwill
  • Route 20 – Sharon Road
  • Route 52x – Idlewild Express
  • Route 22 – Graham Street
  • Route 62x – Rea Road Express
  • Route 23 – Shamrock Drive
  • Route 82x – Rock Hill Express
  • Route 24 – Nations Ford Road
  • Route 85x – Gastonia Express
