ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A 24-year-old man has been accused of stabbing his mother to death in Kannapolis Monday morning, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to Bostian Oaks Lane around 9:15 a.m. after a report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, authorities located a woman lying in the yard, near an outdoor camper close to the main residence.
The victim, identified as 55-year-old Julie Bostian Corriher, had been stabbed in the upper chest with a large knife, according to detectives.
Through an investigation, deputies were able to identify the suspect in the case as the victim’s son Hayden Jones.
Jones, who was located down the street from the incident, was taken into custody by authorities.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Jones has been charged with murder and has been placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond.
The investigation into the case is active and ongoing.
