CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives are investigating a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian that occurred Thursday evening in north Charlotte.
On February 10th around 9 p.m., officers responded to a pedestrian struck on Old Statesville Road.
At the scene, officers found the victim lying in the roadway.
Police say officers learned the suspect had hit her and left the scene in a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck.
The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic responded to the scene as well and declared the pedestrian, Valerie Williams, 65, dead due to injuries sustained in the collision.
With the public’s help, the suspect vehicle was located a short distance from the scene.
Police say the driver was identified as Earl Crisco, 43, and his car was seized as evidence.
Crisco was found not to be impaired or speeding at the time of the crash, according to a news release.
Police charged Crisco with felony hit and run and say he is now in custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing.
