CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is conducting a homicide investigation on Sunday night near I-485.
At least one person is dead.
Officers responded to reports of an accident around 7 p.m. Sunday between Marita Drive and the North I-485 Interloop, near Mt. Holly Road.
They found a vehicle that veered off the road and caught fire.
MEDIC pronounced the driver, identified as 36-year-old Jamil Rout, dead at the scene.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
