HUDSON, N.C. — Five people, including two EMS personnel, were taken to the hospital on Wednesday after being injured in a major crash involving a Caldwell County ambulance.
Detectives say the ambulance was transporting a patient to an area hospital when the crash occurred, around 12:21 p.m. at the intersection of southbound Hickory Boulevard and Mt. Herman Road.
Two EMS technicians were on-board the ambulance at the time of the collision, as well as a patient.
Investigators say all four occupants of the ambulance were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and the driver of the other vehicle involved was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Caldwell County EMS was assisted by Hudson Fire Department, Hudson Police Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP).
Troopers continue to actively investigate this collision.
