Two Suspects Arrested For Gastonia Bank Robbery
GASTONIA, N.C. — Two people have been arrested and charged for robbing a bank in Gastonia Wednesday afternoon.
Officers with the Gastonia Police Department were dispatched to the PNC Bank, located on South New Hope Road, around 2:30 p.m. after reports of a bank robbery.
Through an investigation, officers determined that a suspect entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money. The suspect then obtained cash from the bank and was last seen entering the passenger side of a car before leaving the area.
Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle, which led to a vehicle stop on South Trenton Street at West Harvie Avenue.
During the stop, police identified the driver as 53-year-old Steven Henson, Jr., of Gastonia, and the passenger as 37-year-old Shawn Clarke, of Charleston, South Carolina. Officers then located evidence from the bank robbery inside the vehicle.
According to police, Clarke and Henson, Jr. were both charged with robbery.
