ROCK HILL, S.C. –Police have arrested and charged a Rock Hill woman in the death of her mother after it was found her mother died as a result of neglect.
On February 18th, Mary Stone was arrested for Abuse/Neglect of an Adult Residing in Death and served a warrant at the Rock Hill Jail.

Police say Stone was denied bond in court.
Stone was charged for her involvement in the following incident:
On November 18th, Rock Hill police responded to a home on Jefferson Avenue to assist EMS with an incident.
At the scene, officers were told a 75-year-old woman was unresponsive but still breathing.
EMS told officers that the conditions of the home where the woman was were unlivable.
Inside the home, officers say they noticed the deplorable conditions.
Officers say Mary Stone, 47, was at the scene and told police she lived in the home with her mother and it had been in this state for at least six months.
Stone told police that her mother suffered from multiple health issues and did not take her medication.
The 75-year-old was then taken by EMS to a local hospital due to her condition and health complications.
Based on the circumstances, Rock Hill police opened an investigation.
On November 27th, detectives were told the 75-year-old woman had died.
Further investigation and information from the York County Coroner’s Office revealed the woman’s death was caused by Sepsis, a result of neglect or lack of care.
