Sunny Weekend, Wet & Warm Next Week

We'll be walking on sunshine this weekend, but a messy pattern lurks as we close out February.

After a wet and windy close to the workweek, we have nothing but sunshine and good times on our hands as we head into the weekend. As high pressure builds in from the northwest, near-normal temperatures in the 50s and 60s take over for both Saturday and Sunday in the Piedmont. While comfortable conditions persist in the afternoons this weekend, overnight lows will fall into the frigid 20s and 30s. Pets and plants should stay indoors for the next couple of nights ahead, but it will be a great week to be a flower as we close out February.

A series of Gulf-born rainmaking systems sweep into the Carolinas next week, setting us up for a (mainly) warm and wet final week of February. Expect highs in the 60s and 70s for much of the week ahead. Details on rain totals remain a bit on the hazy side, but most of us can expect at least a half-inch by the end of the month.
