HICKORY, N.C. — Officials say a fire tore through and destroyed an abandoned furniture plant in Hickory overnight.
Firefighters were called to the scene on 24th Street NE just before 12 a.m. on Saturday.
At the scene, firefighters saw heavy flames throughout the building.
Officials say the 67-year-old building was declared a total loss after the flames were extinguished.
Crews say they cleaned damage for more than 12 hours after the fire originally began.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
