CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives are investigating a fatal crash in east Charlotte after the driver of a Toyota was killed on Wednesday.
Around 9 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Albemarle Road involving a 2015 Honda Accord and a 2005 Toyota Camry.
Both cars were found damaged and in the roadway, according to a news release.
The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.
Police say the driver of the Honda was taken to Novant Health Mint Hill with minor injuries, and the driver of the Toyota was airlifted to Atrium Main with serious injuries.
At 11:05 a.m., officers say the Toyota driver was pronounced dead due to injuries received in the crash.
Initial investigation reveals Shashanna Crumpler was the driver of the Honda.
She was heading east on Albemarle Road approaching Arlington Church Road, when David Denning was driving his Toyota north on on Arlington Church Road and about to make a left turn onto westbound Albemarle Road.
Detectives say the Honda was traveling in the left lane, and its front end stuck the driver’s side door of the Toyota.
Impairment is not suspected for either driver, according to a news release.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
