HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Huntersville detectives have opened an investigation after a video of an assault involving juveniles in Birkdale Village spread on social media.
The Huntersville Police Department says it is aware of a cell phone video of an assault that took place this past Saturday night, March 5th, in Birkdale Village.
Just after the assault occurred, police say a report was filed with its agency.
Initial investigation reveals this incident was not a random act of violence but stemmed from a previous dating relationship involving a girl and private messages via social media.
Detectives have already identified suspects involved in the video and are working closely with local School Resource Officers to identify the remaining involved parties.
Police say because this investigation involves juveniles, this is all the information available at this time.
