PINEVILLE, N.C. — A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Pineville Wednesday evening, according to police.
The Pineville Police Department responded to South Polk Street at Lowery Street around 7:40 p.m. after a report of a fatal pedestrian vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers located the pedestrian who was struck, the vehicle, and the driver of the vehicle. Only the pedestrian was hurt during the incident, according to police.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and attempted CPR on the woman before Medic arrived. The pedestrian, identified as 69-year-old Stacy Sheppard-Ganzie, died due to her injuries, according to authorities.
The unidentified driver is cooperating with the police investigation and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
