CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fifth and sixth grade students can now apply for full scholarships to attend basketball camps held at UNC Chapel Hill and N.C. State University this summer thanks to EnergyUnited.
The deadline to apply for scholarships is March 31st.
EnergyUnited will provide one young woman with a scholarship to attend the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp from June 19th-June 22nd in Raleigh, and one young man the opportunity to attend the Carolina Basketball School from June 18th-June 22nd in Chapel Hill.
“EnergyUnited is proud to give back to our communities by offering our Sports Camp scholarship program,” said Maureen Moore, communications manager for EnergyUnited. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we are proud to deliver for two young students.”
Officials say the scholarships cover all expenses at the overnight camps, and campers will stay in college dorms.
“Athletic skill and talent are not bound by where you live or how much money you make,” said N.C. State University Women’s Basketball Coach Wes Moore. “Thanks to this partnership with North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, we are able to help kids who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to come to our camp, find and discover their true potential.”
To apply, officials say students must be in the fifth or sixth grade and submit an application online by March 31st.

Officials say more than 50 students will be awarded Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships from electric cooperatives in North Carolina, including EnergyUnited, this year.
Now in its 19th year, the scholarship program demonstrates the electric cooperatives’ commitment to building a brighter future through continued support for education and community programs.
