Could Losing Deshaun Watson Become David Tepper’s Biggest Failure Yet?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Deshaun Watson drama and the Panthers has everyone’s attention. Carolina has spent more than a year recruiting Houston Texans quarterback. But despite that long effort, right now, rumor is that Watson appears to favor the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

USA Today’s Panthers Wire notes losing Watson could go down as the most painful defeat for David Tepper since purchasing the franchise. Thursday, The Athletic’s Joe Person tweeted that the Panthers would need a “hail Mary” to pull off the trade. But all that being said, it ain’t over ’til it’s over, and the Panthers are not out yet. A source with knowledge of the situation told Pro Football Talk that Watson is incredibly torn on where to go, and there’s no timetable for the decision.

If Watson decided to come to Carolina, it could be complicated. The 3-time Pro Bowler led the league in passing yards in 2020. But, it’s unclear what consequences Watson will face, if any, from the multiple pending civil sexual assault cases against him.

Our question of the night: should Deshaun Watson come to the Panthers?
