  • 8 tornado warnings were issued yesterday…NWS will give info on any surveys between 8-9am (likely GSP will work with Blacksburg to coordinate)
  • Trees down in Alexander and Burke Counties
  • Report of a woman who was hit in the head in Hudson (Caldwell Co) w/ a trampoline
  • Lightning and/or wind took down power lines in Burke Co. near Morganton
  • Norfolk Southern Train Line Washed out at mile marker 110. Train has been stopped in Connelly Springs (Burke Co)
  • No significant damage reports or power outages
Severe threat has ended across the area, but isolated shower chances will linger into midday. Breezy afternoon with winds transitioning out of the SW 5-15 mph with gusts 25 mph. Highs will reach the low 70s. Clouds fill in Friday with another approaching cold front. This will be generally dry, but could see a quick dusting of snow for the mountains overnight into early Saturday. Temps will reach the low 60s Saturday and Sunday with overnight lows falling near freezing Sunday morning. It will at the very least be sunny, but cold with high pressure building across the region. Temps will rebound into the low 70s early next week. Next round of storms looks likely to arrive mid to late next week..
