Carolina Panthers GM: Cam Newton Could Bring Stability To Team During “Hard Time”

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – News Friday from the Carolina Panthers that the team could be looking to a familiar face to help stabilize the team during this “hard time.” That familiar face is once again Cam Newton.

Panther’s General Manager Scott Fitterer says Head Coach Matt Rhule has already talked with Newton. And, apparently the conversation went well.

Newton returned to the Panthers last November. But it wasn’t the comeback everyone was hoping for. Cam finished O in 5 in his five starts with the Panthers.

Fitterer noted Cam could bring stability to the team during a “hard time.” He says, “The thing with Cam is, its gotta be a fit with us, and it’s gotta be a fit with him just as well.” And, “We’re very open to Cam. We’ll see where it goes. He knows where we stand. I think he and Matt had a very good conversation, from my understanding. So, we’ll see how it goes.” But there’s another catch, too: if Cam returns to Carolina, he’s not guaranteed to be a starter. Newton will be fighting along side Sam Darnold for the position.

Our question of the night: should the Panthers re-sign Cam Newton?
