Edge On The Clock: Teen Boy Falls To Death From Amusement Park Ride

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time, a woman has been drafted by an American professional baseball team for an on-field role. Alexis Hopkins is the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes’ newest catcher. The team owner says it’s not about “selecting the best man” for the job but choosing the best fit for the team. The 23-year-old is now not only a professional baseball player, but she also just graduated with a biomedical engineering degree.

Plus, Nike is honoring NBA legend Kobe Bryant. The company is partnering with Vanessa Bryant. They say they want to inspire a new generation of athletes, and encourage kids to play sports.

And, a 14-year-old boy is dead after falling from a new amusement park ride in Orlando. Sheriff’s deputies say he fell from the Orlando FreeFall in ICON Park late Thursday. The ride just opened in January. It takes guests up about 400 feet, before dropping them at 75-miles-an-hour. Deputies say the boy died at the hospital. Authorities say it appears to be an accident, but they are still investigating.
