Child Seriously Injured In East Charlotte Apartment Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A child is suffering from life-threatening injuries after an east Charlotte apartment fire Tuesday morning, according to firefighters.

The Charlotte Fire Department responded to Snow Lane, off of East W.T. Harris Boulevard, after a report of a two-alarm fire. The location is Heritage Park Apartments.

The fire department tweeted about the fire response around 7 a.m.

According to officials, 46 firefighters were able to control the apartment fire within 15 minutes.

As a result of the fire, one child was seriously injured and transported to the hospital to be treated, firefighters say.

Red Cross Disaster Action Team members from the Greater Carolinas Region announced that they are helping 16 people who were impacted by the fire and providing financial assistance for immediate needs like shelter, food, and clothes.

According to the Red Cross, the fire impacted eight units at the apartment complex.

The fire is under investigation.
