Cloudy & Cooler, Rain, Storm Chances Return Thursday
AM Headlines:
- Chilly and dry start
- Not as windy, more clouds and cooler Tuesday
- Rain & Storms return Thursday
- Severe threat very low
- Mild weekend
Discussion:
The winds have died down, but conditions will remain dry through mid-week. Because of the dry air, it is feeling much colder this morning even with temps in the 40s across much of the region. Tree pollen levels will remain high through the end of the week. Clouds will still be in place for much of the day with highs reaching the upper 50s. A warm front will try to lift north across, but will likely lead to more of a wedge situation Wednesday with a sharp gradient of cooler temps in the foothills vs the Piedmont where temps will likely reach the low 70s by late afternoon. A strong cold front will move through the region beginning early Thursday through midday. This should limit the severe threat, but an isolated strong storm with damaging wind gusts will still be possible. Temps will remain mild through the weekend with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Isolated rain chances return late Saturday into Sunday.
