One Arrested, Another Wanted In Iredell County Larceny

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — One suspect has been arrested and another wanted for stealing power tools from a storage building in Iredell County, according to deputies.

Iredell County deputies responded to Elmwood Road on March 22 after a report of a breaking and entering with larceny. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who informed them that several new power tools were stolen from their storage building.

In addition, the victim informed deputies that he located the power tools in a hay barn located at the end of the driveway near Elmwood Road, leading officials to believe the suspects could return to collect the stolen property.

The victim removed the power tools from their original boxes and replaced them with heavy pieces of wood to trick the suspects. Later in the evening, the victim called authorities to inform them that the suspects had returned.

When deputies arrived they located 53-year-old Timothy Becker in the suspect vehicle. The passenger in the suspect vehicle, later identified as 34-year-old Dustin Owensby by officials, fled on foot as deputies arrived.

Through evidence gathered in the investigations, Timothy Becker was arrested charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and misdemeanor larceny.

According to deputies, arrest warrants have been received for Owensby for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiracy to commit felony breaking and entering, misdemeanor larceny, and misdemeanor first degree trespass. Deputies say Owensby also has active arrest warrants for probation violation.
